If you want to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ, all you have to do is ask him.  Here are the simple steps you need to take:

1) Admit your need (being a sinner)
2) Be willing to repent and turn away from your sins, pursuing God's will
3) Believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, paying the debt for your sins, then rose from the grave
4) Invite Jesus to come into your life as your Lord and Savior

Here is an example prayer:

Dear God,
I believe that Jesus is your Son,
And that He died to pay the penalty for my sin,
And was raised from the grave for my salvation.
I know that I'm a sinner and need your forgiveness
And I now ask you, Jesus, to save me.
I am willing to turn away from my sinful ways
And follow You as Lord and Savior of my life.
I thank you for your forgiveness,
For your gift of eternal life, and for the blessed hope you give.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen
